9/2/2017 0 Comments Inspired ArtistI have chosen to write about artist Flavie Audi. These photos are from her website FlavieAudi.com Flavie Audi was born in Paris in 1986. The 31 year old graduated from both Architectural Association and Royal College of Arts in London. Flavie is French-Lebanese and had a passion for glass making. The artist currently works with glass, gold, resin silver, color pigments, and a variety of semi-precious stones. She uses an almost ancient glass blowing technique with her most famous works being "fluid rocks" which depict landscapes, space, and geology. Each of her pieces have deeper meaning about light and life.
Flavie Audi's work is inspiring to me because of her usage of colors and shapes that can be manipulated to change from different angles. Her scientific knowledge helped her to create a reaction in the glass that reflects light and capture her visions for various ethereal landscapes. Her works are often unpredictable and require many months and careful science to create. The sculptures draw me in due to my interest in space/astronomical bodies and art that depicts them, in which case Flavie's glass sculptures are extrodinary. They have qualities that make them seem so magical, delicate, and celestial. The way Flavie describes her works is very inspiring as well, she speaks about her attempt to use artificial and natural elements to depict celestial bodies, man made/virtual energy, and chaotic energy of nature. I also am intrigued by how perfectly the sculpture's names depict them ie. Cloudspace, Trapped Nebula, Celestial Dust, Dark Cloud, Fluid Ether, etc. Flavie Audi is a very inspirational artist.
