2/27/2019 0 Comments Piper and orchid I decided to paint my lizard on my favorite flower. I used the same planning process and stuck to acrylic paint for this painting. My goal was to use a lot of detail in my art. The hardest part of this project was choosing the placement to fit my vision. I am happy with the outcome because when I got the placement right it is exactly how I envisioned. I'm also happy with the depth that is shown through the scales and color differences in the orchids. Another issue I had was with the contrast and getting it to look better from a distance.

I did most of my planning on google slides listing my ideas and placement. I also researched to find what medium to work with, my option were tempera, oil, acrylic, and fresco. I picked oil. I began with the background getting the dark clouds and lighting right to give the painting a more ethereal feel. Finally I moved onto the skin i used primarily white with blues and reds to create the skin and shadows to contrast the veil that is black with other hues. The hardest part was to create the body proportions and shadows.
